The primary function of refrigerant in an air conditioning system is to absorb heat from the indoor environment and release it outside. This process involves cycling the refrigerant through various components such as the evaporator coil, compressor, condenser coil, and expansion valve. A leak in any part of this closed-loop system results in a reduction of refrigerant levels. Consequently, there is insufficient fluid to effectively absorb and transfer heat.
